Progress is being made and we're anxious to get the move going. But, we're waiting patiently. All of the guests have been moved out of Building A. Two apartments were vacated this past week and so to guarantee that we would have apartments for the guests in apartments 3 and 5, we had them move to back apartments. The guests in apartment 8 had left earlier in the week. We plan to be out of Building A by the end of the month and demolition of that building will follow shortly. The north parking area will be located where Building A is now.
The first picture shows the front of one of the apartments (courtyard side). The "shingles" on the wall are not individual pieces but larger pieces of siding (square, not long) that look like several shingles. The smaller window on the left is located over the kitchen sink. The bigger window is in the living room end of the combined kitchen-dining-living room.
The second picture shows the kitchen in the community room. It has a dishwasher and garbage disposal as do the two managers' apartments. The regular apartments have neither. In the left bottom corner of the picture, you can see the island that is in the kitchen.
The third and fourth pictures are very important as they show how we will be getting electricity. In fact, the order is in for the power to be hooked up and that means air conditioning in the community room -- something which is very necessary for the move into the new office!! In picture three there are two sets of loose wires. The first set is just in front of the power pole -- the wires are sort of horizontal. The second set comes out of the metal pole and is hanging vertically. The power company will connect those two sets. In the final picture, you can see the electrical box and also the conduits for the wires which will be going to the different floors. The horizontal metal conduits will carry the power wires for the first floor. The three vertical conduits near the box will take the wires to the second, third, and fourth floors. The conduits for the third and fourth floors will be lengthened. This area is on the Cecil Street side of the complex and is in the service area where the dumpster will be and also the community building air conditioning units, which you can just see on the left. The metal poles with the blue tops, which will be shortened, are there to protect the AC units and the electrical box from the dumpster-emptying truck.
So . . . we plan to be in the new office by October 1. We hope to begin moving guests later in October. It probably will be a month or more before all of the apartments are filled. It will take time to move everything and to get the new furniture and other items that will be needed.
