Power poles

One of the problems of getting the construction started has been the relocation of the power poles. The relocation costs thousands of dollars. Once the payment issue was settled, there was the matter of where the poles were to be placed. It seems that they were planned right where some water pipes are. However, after some re-thinking, it appears that the placement issue has been solved. It may take another six weeks after this project gets on the work schedule for it to get done. This work has to be done before construction can start. But . . . we are moving forward despite the delays. And we have received several nice grants lately. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far to the new construction project.

Slowly we go forward

Although construction has not yet begun, weekly meetings are being held with some of the contractors and some of the HRDF trustees attending. Pole positions have been marked for the power line relocation and these are being checked against construction plans. That relocation and re-platting of the property are delaying the start of construction but it is hoped that these requirements can soon be met.

HRDF has received several grants and gifts but about $1.25 million is still needed to complete the $4 million project debt free. Thanks to all who have contributed. Any suggestions about additional sources for funding should be forwarded to Joe Hightower, President.
