Getting ready for piers

The men are constructing the rebar columns that will go down into the bell bottom piers for the foundations of the new buildings. The sites of the piers are marked by the short white sticks that have little blue flags on them (flags not visible in picture). There will be 48 piers, each one 14 feet deep, in each of the four story apartment buildings. There will be 20 piers, not as deep, in the one story community room/office building. If the weather holds, the piers should be dug and the concrete poured into them this next week.

We have a trailer!

We must be an official construction project now as we have a construction trailer. It is located just south of Building C. Eventually Bertner Avenue will go through this area. Grading and prep work for the foundation continues. In the bottom picture, the wire that will be reinforcing the foundation piers is visible. It is sitting in the future parking lot at the southern end of the property. If everything (weather, availability of cement truck etc.) cooperates, the piers should be poured within the next week. (Old Spanish Trail is on the other side of the white building in the bottom picture.)
