Pier Progress

These pictures were taken Friday, January 12. The crew is really working to get the piers finished before the bad weather. Friday was shirtsleeve weather. Today, Tuesday, January 16, is definitely not! In picture one you can see the pier drilling rig in the background. In picture two you can see the rebar column before it is inserted into the partially filled pier and in picture three they are putting in the rebar and more cement. Picture four shows the crew working to finish off the job. It is doubtful that any work is being done today. Construction can be very weather dependent!

Drilling and Pouring

We're officially a construction site as we have a construction sign. Passersby won't have to wonder what is going on!
Finally this week the weather has been nice and much work has been done on getting the piers drilled and the cement poured. As the piers are drilled, a soil test is performed to make sure that the piers have been drilled deep enough. Then the cement is poured into the hole that has been drilled and the reinforcing bars put in. It was anticipated that it would take four days to drill the 125+ piers. Let's hope the weather holds for them to finish.

Rain, rain, stay away!

We're waiting for a few consecutive days of dry weather so that the pier drilling and pouring can take place. It will take about four days to complete this work and we need dry days before and during the work. The reinforcing bars are ready but the ground is too wet for the drilling rig and cement trucks to go out on without getting stuck.
