Work continues

Although there have been few visible changes in the last couple of weeks, work has been done to ready Building B for demolition. The last chore before demolition was some asbestos abatement. The work was begun yesterday, April 3, and should be finished today. In the past couple of weeks, the TV antenna and equipment have been moved, the water and sewer lines to Building B have been capped and pipes rerouted to serve the other three buildings. One laundry room has been closed. Negotiations are moving forward in the selection of the contractor. Fund raising continues with a goal of $3.5 million. (Suggestions of possible donors are welcome.) When Building B is demolished, the driveway between Buildings A and B will be closed and the entrance to the apartments will be via Selma. A new sidewalk just to the north of Building A will be constructed so that the guests in Building A will have a safe way to get to the laundry. The "fence wall" adjacent to apartments 2 and 4 will be taken down so that the sidewalk is easily accessible.

As soon as demolition begins, new photos will be posted.
